New Tenantes - Before You Rent

Most problem people who rent do not expect a background check before the move into a new home/unit. However by doing a simple background check and making some phone calls you can protect yourself from problems and extra work. Check not only their work history, but also their criminal history, length of employment,  length of previous living arrangements, look for the length of their sustained responsibility.

If there are credit problems, ask questions? why is there a problem, perhaps they can not afford a mortgage, but can afford rent. Call references and past property owners, see what they have to say.

As a consideration, think about a Renter Selection Plan, talk to a rental attorney. This may save legal problems latter on.
